Took my husband here to celebrate Father's Day, we loved the atmosphere and service. She Crab soup is among the best I've ever had. But our entrees weren't anything to write home about. They were good; but, not worth the hefty $49 tab without alcohol. I'm not sure we'd go back. They've got to step up the food quality or relax those prices in order to reel us back

We had spent the whole day driving and hadn't eaten since breakfast, so by the time we checked into Wild Dunes Resort, we were weary, tired of being in the car, and very hungry. Rather than driving somewhere for dinner, we walked over to the Sea Island Grill and Lounge. When we walked in at 7:30 on a Thursday night, there were two other couples in the place. But instead of a table, we got an extensive lecture that we should never, ever show up without a reservation. Instead of waiting for the hostess to find us some dark corner, we decided to find a restaurant that welcomed our business. And we left the Sea Island Grill and Lounge as empty as we had found it. There is a happy ending to this story, however. We did have to get back into our car, but we stumbled upon the Morgan Creek Grill, where we had an amazing seafood dinner.

How can you burn a burger and have the audacity to serve it. Service was good from wait staff - but the cook!!! Oh my!!! Unbelievable. My friends Fish was raw and my burger was literally burned!! I asked for it medium. I was blown away by this place. It's no wonder reviews are mostly bad. Someone needs to get replaced. House cleaning might be a better fit for the cook. This way he can't burn anything.

pretty interior, food was awesome... fried black eye peas were great appetizer, scallops a little overcooked but that can also be a personal preference. Would I go back... YES!

Very disappointed. Teeny tiny portions, even my granddaughter who's 3 would still be hungry. Food was plain. My pumpkin soup was the highlight but it wasn't hot. I sent my entree back as it was extremely salty. We were so hoping to make this one of our regular places but not happening.

Atmosphere was about the only so so thing. Food was way over priced for the low quality. Need to work on cleanliness

Went during an "off time." I was the ONLY person in the restaurant. I realize I went at a weird time - 3:00 in the afternoon - but if you say you are open, and "come on in" then that means you are able to cook, serve the food, etc. It took nearly 40 minutes for me to get fries and a sandwich. Then the fries and the sandwich were just... eh, so so.

We stayed at the hotel the night of our wedding, woke up and went to breakfast. I think that the hotel was training summer help because we were extremely disappointed. Not only did theynotcare that we were newlyweds, but they treated us as if we weren't even staying at the hotel. My husband did not receive his complete breakfast and he had to keep asking our waiter for more sweet tea. He was given a complimentary breakfast credit that was not applied to our bill. I would not return to this hotel or restaurant again.

We ate dinner here while on vacation in the area on our last night before heading home..... mistake. She Crab Soup is the best thing about this resort "fine dining" establishment. Service -Incredibly slow -SO SLOW. Our waiter didn't take our orders for 30 minutes. Food took just as long to come out Appetizers -Grilled Peach Salad- the peaches were way under ripe. It was like biting into an apple. Totally unacceptable, it was sent back. -Soup was good. -Moonshine Tuna was strange, flavors didn't work Mains -Scallops tasted fine but the side of Sweet potato peanut puree was just weird. -Snapper was the best. If you have to eat here order the snapper. My family absolutely loves coming to Isle of Palms and really enjoys eating out in the surrounding area- Charleston has so many great dining options, it's a drive but worth it for a culinary experience. Go to Charleston or Sullivan's island for food!!!! For the amount of money this place costs you will be disappointed. Pricing is way too high for mediocre attempts at fine dining. Whoever is in the kitchen needs to take some instruction from the chefs at ANY other restaurant in the area.

Fantastic service and amazing food. If available, i highly recommend the pumpkin soup. The 3 for $30 was also an excellent choice with the pressed duck. We will definitely be returning here the next time we stay at Wild Dunes.

Braised short ribs with BBQ sauce has to be the single most best dish on the menu but you will need extra sauce so go ahead and ask for it. Steak was goods but not as good as the ribs. Our waiter was a very slow on refills and left me dry for most of the meal. Please note that sides are fixed to menu item and not customer's choice! You can sit inside or outside by the pool area, I recommend inside.

This is a hostage resort, so I'm pretty much stranded here. Last night, the prime rib wasn't cooked as ordered, and was tasteless, but for the nasty gravy in which it floated. Tonight, the restaurant was closed for a wedding, so I had to drive 10 miles off the reservation to get dinner. Hostage resorts are bad enough... but once you've trapped the consumer here, you at least need to offer him food... at some price. These people just don't get it.

We stayed at the Wild Dunes resort for a week and during our stay decided to try the dinner-only Sea Island Grill after receiving a personal recommendation. The dining room is cozy, with an adjacent lounge area (complete with chess and checkers boards and a fully stocked bar). We made a reservation, although our mid-week visit certainly didn't necessitate any advance planning. The dining room resembles a country club-style restaurant and seems like a great place to unwind with friends after an afternoon on the resort's golf course or beach. The seating is comfortable, more so than most restaurants I've visited. For an appetizer I ordered the crab cakes. They were a little different than the Maryland crab cakes to which I am more accustomed, but contained 100% crab (no other fillers). The portion was very generous for the price, definitely a tasty treat. My dinner companion ordered the fried green tomatoes, which were served with a pepper salsa. It was my first time trying fried green tomatoes, and they were amazing. I have since tried other restaurants' tomatoes and found these to be the best so far. They were very crispy, the tomatoes were packed with flavor (less-than-ripe tomatoes can have very little taste, these were distinct). The pepper salsa was a great accompaniment. When I return, I will be torn between ordering the tomatoes and the crab cakes, both were excellent. For the main course I ordered the mixed grill, a surf-n-turf style dish with a 5 ounce lobster tail and a 7 ounce fillet mignon. The fillet was served on top of a mashed potato disc and topped with an amazing sauce, slightly sweet and tangy. The lobster was served on a bed of mashed butternut squash and spinach, topped with a butter-based sauce. Both were excellent. According to the waiter, the sides vary at the whim of the chef, and I consider myself fortunate that we went the night that we did! The dinner portion definitely won't leave you hungry. For dessert we shared the chocolate soufflé. It came with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream and a dish of melted Godiva chocolate sauce. We pre-ordered this dish so it would arrive fresh at the end of our meal. The portion was definitely big enough to share, and was amazing. A must-have for the chocolate fans. The service was impeccable. Our waiter was very friendly, the food was always served piping hot, and he made a great recommendation for a bottle of wine. Before writing this review, I had the opportunity to dine at several other Charleston-area restaurants (see my other Yelp reviews for more insight), but this by far was the most memorable meal from the trip. We already have several items on the menu lined up for our next visit!

In May, we took a party of 10 to Sea island Grill for dinner in May. The service was phenomenal. Food was even better. We spend every summer in IOP and always go back to the Grill for dinner

We were guests at a "Sustainable Seafood" themed dinner hosted by the South Carolina Aquarium at the Sea Island Grill. The amazing menu and hospitality of Executive Chef T Cooper Thomas and his staff made it our most memorable dining experience in years. As it was a special event. I'm not sure which of the items are on the restaurant's regular menu, but every single one of his dishes showcased extraordinary talent, quality, creativity and a sensitivity to sustainably harvested seafood. Highlights included a rich and creamy lobster bisque with passion fruit chantilly and coconut sorbet (my favorite), flash seared wild scallops with caramelized fennel and snow pea ragout with cognac creme, a seared halibut bouillabaisse and an unbelieveable candied lobster over lemon sorbet. It was an unbelieveable meal. Everyone from the hostess to the wait staff was friendly and extremely service oriented. It left us feeling the team took pride in serving this astonishing meal and enjoyed mingling with the guests. The Sea Island Grill is well worth the drive out to the island, even if you aren't staying at Wild Dunes. We hear some people don't realize they can enjoy this restaurant and are put off by the fact that you have to come in through the guard station at the Wild Dunes Resort. All you have to do is just let the guard know you're eating at the restaurant and they'll let you through. If you live anywhere near Charleston or are visiting, it is well worth the trip out. We are lucky enough to live here and will definitely go back to the Sea Island Grill.

We are new members of the Wild Dunes Club and were very excited to eat at The Sea Island Grill. We made reservations earlier in the day, but when we arrived there was no record that we had called. I had wanted to dine at 7:30, but was told 8pm was the first available. When we arrived there were many empty tables. The positive was a friendly, helpful, and attentive staff. Our waiter Bill was great! Bread and chef treat were tasty. Unfortunately, the food was just not good. My husband and daughter each had the she crab soup. They agreed the soup was fine, but the seasoning of the toast served in the bowl did not add to the dish. My appetizer was the caesar wedge. It was boring. There was very little dressing or interest. My husband had the crispy red snapper for his entree. Oddly, it was served with the skin facing up and the crispy down. He thought it was ok. My daughter and I had the shrimp and grits. The grits were fried perfectly and were very enjoyable. But, the shrimp were inedible! They were overcooked, tough, and tasteless. As a southerner, this is simply unacceptable at a high end low country restaurant. I considered sending the dish back, but it was getting late and I did not want to upset our evening any further. We will not go back to The Sea Island Grill in the near future.
